If you’re not protecting your brand, you’re putting it at risk.

Whether you run a fashion, beauty, wellness, or creative brand, you don’t want your hard work to go to waste.

And yet… Leaving your creative assets unprotected means anyone, from anywhere, at any time, can swoop in and take credit for the hard work you’ve worked hard to create.

Trademarking your creative assets (like your business name, logos, signature frameworks, and offers names) protects your hard work. It also helps ensure that no one else can piggyback off your success.

It’s time for legal coverage and legitimate backing to prove your creative property is just that — yours.

What’s the Protect Your IP Challenge™?

Hosted by the attorneys at Watson & Young, the Protect Your IP Challenge™ is a 3-day challenge designed to help you understand exactly what you need to protect your brand and intellectual property through trademark, copyright, and contract law.

This is perfect for fashion, beauty, and wellness brands, but everything we cover will also apply to other niches and online service-based brands.

About Your Hosts

Zara Watson-Young | Co-Founder | Attorney At Law

Zara knows how frustrating it can be to try and fit your career in a box while marching to the beat of your own drum.

That’s exactly what led her to close the door on a thriving corporate legal career in order to pursue what truly encompassed all the skills and ambition in her wheelhouse: serving people like you.

Zara has served entrepreneurs since 2017, always driven to empower and equip fellow dreamers with tangible legal tools to scale confidently. Along the way, she co-founded Watson & Young with her husband, Sean.

She’s here to walk with you every step of the entrepreneurial path because she’s traveled this path, too. Zara knows it’s far less intimidating when you’ve got a partner who knows what’s around the bend!

Sean Young | Co-Founder | Attorney At Law

From the beginning of Sean’s legal career, he has helped businesses secure their Intellectual Property.

Sean received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 2015 with a concentration in intellectual property, media, and information law. While there, he was a member of the Brooklyn Law School Incubator & Policy Clinic, where he started his career advising businesses and startups in NYC on entity formation and intellectual property protection.

Since then, Sean has litigated hundreds of cases, from complex commercial litigation to trademark oppositions recovering thousands of dollars in damages for his clients. His courtroom experience has allowed him to successfully negotiate, litigate, and mediate favorable outcomes for his clients against Fortune 500 companies and major publications.

It’s a bit of an understatement to say that Sean knows the ropes when it comes to corporate entities and trademark registration. From startups to scaling businesses, Sean is highly experienced in the courtroom in the process of litigation, passionately advocating for his clients.

Sean has joined forces with his wife, Zara, to pursue their long-held dreams of owning a law firm that focuses on helping their clients own, police, license, and leverage their Trademarks.

Outside the courtroom, Sean enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and daughter. He also serves as a Board of Director and legal counsel for the non-profit Dental Helping Hands, dedicated to improving the lives of others through health care in underserved communities abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions

The challenge will be 3 days long from February 20-February 22 from 1:00pm EST to 3:00pm EST.

The challenge will be 2 hours long each day. The first hour will be lecture-style where we will be discussing that day’s content. The second hour will be the Q&A portion where VIP attendees will have an opportunity to get their legal questions answered.

With a general admission ticket you will receive access to the live lecture, access to our Protect your IP assessment book, and be able to join our LinkedIn group. As a VIP attendee you will receive personal one-on-one time with Zara and Sean without having to pay them $400/hr. If you feel like your situation is different and you want to pick our brains with a specific legal question, then don’t miss this!

As many as time allows. We only allow 50 VIP passes, so we can ensure people get at least 1 question. However, depending on how many VIP passes are sold, you may get more.

We call on people in order of the list we see on our computer. So when hands are raised, it is first come, first served. However, we also track when people ask a question. So we make sure people who have not yet asked a question go first. We try our hardest to spread it out so people get around the same amount of questions answered. But always show up and get your hand raised.

If you are not familiar with zoom you may be wondering how to raise your hand. First off it is easiest to do on the computer, so we recommend being on a computer if possible. You will see a button at the bottom of your zoom screen that says “Reactions.” Click that and it will open a menu, in that menu you will see “Raise My Hand” button. Click that and that is all you need to do.

We recommend that you write your question down ahead of time. It brings clarity to you about what your question is. You also want to begin your question with, “My question is…” Zara and Sean will ask for the details after you ask the question.

Anything related to business, your business specifically or the challenge and what you are learning. Think about it this way, if you had the opportunity to ask an award winning intellectual property lawyer a question, what would you ask? Think about this, Zara and Sean are paid $400 an hour or more to solve entrepreneurs’ legal questions, and you get a chance to ask them a question. What do you want to know most?
